The MINI Plant Oxford, located in the United Kingdom, celebrates the return of the MINI Cooper Convertible to its production line after a pause since 2015. This fourth-generation model reinforces the brand’s British heritage and joins the MINI Cooper 3-Door and 5-Door, solidifying Oxford as the home of the MINI family.

100% BRITISH MANUFACTURING
The production of the new MINI Convertible is a collaborative effort between three BMW Group plants in the UK:
- Swindon Plant: Handles body panel manufacturing.
- Hams Hall Plant: Produces the most advanced four-cylinder petrol engines.
- MINI Plant Oxford: Responsible for body assembly, painting, and final assembly.
This process ensures that the vehicle maintains the quality and design standards characteristic of MINI.
A HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Since its debut in 2004, the MINI Convertible has been an icon in the automotive world:
- First generation (2004-2008): Produced exclusively in Oxford, with 160,000 unitsmanufactured, it stood out for its retro style and chrome roll bars.
- Second generation (2009-2015): Improved in design and functionality, achieving 165,000 unitsat the same plant.
- Third generation (2015-2023): Produced in VDL Nedcar, the Netherlands, with over 150,000 unitsbuilt before returning to Oxford.
The MINI Plant Oxford, which celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2023, remains one of the oldest automotive factories in the world, with continuous production since 1913.
