WHAT IS PIT BOOST? 🔥
PIT BOOST is a new feature announced by ABB FIA Formula E, allowing cars to receive a 10% energy boost (3.85kWh) through an ultra-fast 600kW recharge in just 30 seconds. 📊 This system, which will be mandatory in every race, promises to add a key strategic factor to the competition.
The recharge will take place within a designated time window, but each team will decide the exact moment for the stop. Only one car per team can recharge at a time, with three team members involved: two to execute the maneuver and one to coordinate the exit. ⏱️🏁
IMPACT ON RACE STRATEGY 🏎️
PIT BOOST will add excitement and unpredictability to every E-Prix. Its mandatory implementation means teams must precisely calculate the ideal time for the stop without compromising track position. The charging speed is significantly faster than current 80kW/h chargers, which can fully recharge a battery in 4.7 minutes, compared to 35.25 minutes for conventional systems. ⚙️🔌
