In the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals, Newcastle secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, marking their seventh consecutive win across all competitions. Gabriel Martinelli had the best chance for the home side in the 28th minute, but the post denied the goal. At the 37th minute, Alexander Isak put the visitors ahead following a brilliant set-piece play; shortly after the second half began, Anthony Gordon doubled the lead, making it 2-0. With this win, Eddie Howe’s team is now very close to the final and will look to seal their place in the second leg on February 5 at St James’ Park.
