The Mexican men’s basketball team began their participation in the Second Qualifying Window for the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 on Thursday with a victory over Nicaragua by 86-77 at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua.
Under the leadership of Omar Quintero, the Mexican team dominated all four quarters thanks to an impressive offense led by Gael Bonilla, who, at just 21 years old, contributed 20 points and five rebounds.
At halftime, Mexico had a comfortable 50-31 lead, following a strong second quarter where they neutralized the hosts. In the second half, Karim Rodríguez and Paul Stoll sealed the victory, each contributing 15 points.

With this win, Mexico is in second place in Group C with five points, the result of two victories and one loss, having scored 236 points and conceded 234.
Their next match will be against Canada, the undefeated group leader, on Sunday, November 24, in Saskatoon, at 2:10 PM.
