Max Fried signs with Yankees for 8 years, $218 million

The New York Yankees and Max Fried have reportedly agreed on a record-breaking 8-year, $218 million contract, the highest ever for a left-handed pitcher in MLB history. Over eight seasons with Atlanta, Fried posted an impressive 73-36 record and a 3.07 ERA, establishing himself as one of the Braves’ top arms despite recurring injuries. In 2024, Fried recorded a 3.25 ERA across 29 starts. At 31 years old, he remains one of the league’s most effective pitchers when healthy, though his injury history raises questions about his long-term contribution to the Yankees.
