The two-win streak of Denny Hamlin came to an end, as Kyle Larson claimed victory at the Food City 500, which moved him up to fourth place in the NASCAR Cup Series driver standings.
Absolute dominance by Kyle Larson with the #5 car at the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series; with this, Larson secured his second win of the season, defeating Denny Hamlin, who, with his second-place finish, was unable to secure his third consecutive victory.

Leading 411 of the 500 laps at Bristol Speedway, Larson’s #5 Chevrolet crossed the finish line 2.250 seconds ahead of Hamlin’s #11 Toyota. This win came in addition to Kyle’s Saturday victory in the Xfinity Series, making it a full weekend of work for Larson and his entire team.

Movements in the driver standings
Completing the podium at the Food City 500, Ty Gibbs finished third, gaining six spots in the season’s driver standings, now placing him 20th.
Meanwhile, back to this weekend’s winner, Larson managed to climb two positions in the driver championship, surpassing the 300-point mark and reaching 304, moving from sixth to fourth place, ahead of Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick.

As for William Byron, he remains at the top of the standings with 346 points, followed by Denny in second with 316. The third place belongs to Christopher Bell with 305, now at risk of being overtaken by Larson, as they are separated by only one point.
