Texans cut wide receiver Diontae Johnson after just 2 games

The Houston Texans parted ways with wide receiver Diontae Johnson ahead of their playoff clash with the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson, claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens, expressed frustration over limited playtime during the win against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he participated in just 15 of 70 offensive snaps and caught a single 12-yard pass. Prior to joining Houston, Johnson had been suspended by the Ravens for refusing to play against the Philadelphia Eagles and had minimal impact during his short stint in Baltimore. Earlier in the season, he played for the Carolina Panthers, recording 257 yards and three touchdowns.   You might also like: Nakobe Dean ruled out for the remainder of Eagles’ playoff run Cover image: X(@Panthers)

Nakobe Dean ruled out for the rest of the playoffs with the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of this season, but suffered a major setback with linebacker Nakobe Dean. Dean sustained a torn patellar tendon and will miss the rest of the playoffs. A key player in the defense, Dean was the team’s second-leading tackler with 128 tackles, along with multiple sacks, pass deflections, and fumble recoveries. To fill the void, the Eagles may turn to rookie Jeremiah Trotter Jr., veteran Oren Burks, or rotate Bryce Huff and Jalyx Hunt.   You might also like: Cowboys clean house as Mike McCarthy is let go Cover image: X(@NakobeDean)

CHECO PÉREZ: IS THERE HOPE FOR A RETURN TO F1? 🏎️

Sergio “Checo” Pérez is currently off the grid for the 2025 Formula 1 season —after 14 years in the premier motorsport category—, and his return seems to depend on external and complex factors. Although he doesn’t rule out an eventual comeback, his future remains uncertain. 🚨 During a talk at the Feria de León with journalist Diego Mejía, the Mexican driver shared that, for now, he is enjoying time with his family and friends following his surprising departure from Red Bull Racing. Pérez stated that he expects to define his next professional step within the next six months, emphasizing that he would only consider returning to F1 if a truly attractive project arises. The challenge of finding a team 🏎️✨ For Checo to get back behind the wheel, an exceptional opportunity would need to present itself. Each team on the grid has its own context, and the outlook isn’t promising: McLaren: With Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri solidifying themselves as one of the best duos in F1, McLaren has no room for Checo. Additionally, the team already has another Mexican, Pato O’Ward, as a reserve driver. ❌ Ferrari: The Italian team has bet heavily on Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, forming one of the strongest pairs on the grid. Although Pérez was part of Ferrari’s academy early in his career, his profile no longer fits the project. 🚫 Mercedes: With young talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli and the experienced George Russell, Mercedes has also closed its doors. They even have Valtteri Bottas as a reserve driver. A Checo return here seems impossible. 🔒 Red Bull Racing: Checo’s time at Red Bull was successful but also taxing. While he could collaborate in the future as an ambassador, his time as a driver for the team has come to an end. ⏳ Aston Martin: Although Pérez has fond memories and strong relationships at this team, the possibilities are also slim. Lawrence Stroll, the team’s owner, seems to have more ambitious plans, even considering Max Verstappen as a potential future driver. 🏎✨ Alpine: Under Flavio Briatore’s management, Alpine is looking to rejuvenate its lineup with talents like Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto. At 35, Checo’s veteran profile doesn’t align with this philosophy. 🏆🤞 Williams: Although Alex Albon had an inconsistent 2024, the team seems committed to its current duo, which includes Carlos Sainz. Pérez could be an interesting option thanks to his sponsors, but this seems unlikely in the short term. ⛔️ Haas: The American team will debut Esteban Ocon and young Oliver Bearman. While an opportunity could arise in the future, 2025 doesn’t seem to be the year for Checo at Haas. 🌟 Sauber (Audi): Audi aims to solidify its project with a veteran like Nico Hulkenberg and talented rookie Gabriel Bortoleto. The chances of Checo joining are nearly zero. 🚕 Racing Bulls: The former AlphaTauri prioritizes developing young talent. A return of Pérez through this team would be highly unlikely. 🙄 Cadillac (Andretti): This new team will debut in 2026 and will need an experienced driver. While Checo could be an ideal candidate, his decision to take a six-month break might complicate negotiations. 🚨 Conclusion 🎯 Checo’s future in Formula 1 is filled with uncertainty. For now, his focus is on enjoying his personal life while his agent, Julian Jakobi, explores potential opportunities. Although the current outlook isn’t favorable, in F1, everything can change quickly. ⚡️
