Dominican outfielder Teoscar Hernández will remain with the Los Angeles Dodgers after agreeing to a three-year, $66 million contract extension.
A 3-Year, $66 Million Deal
The agreement between Hernández and the Dodgers includes a three-year contract worth $66 million, with a $15 million club option for 2028 and a $6.5 million buyout if the option is not exercised. The deal also features $23.5 million in deferred payments and a $23 million signing bonus.
Hernández played a key role in the Dodgers’ success during the 2024 season, including their World Series victory over the New York Yankees, where he contributed a pivotal two-run double in Game 5.
Hernández’s Desire to Stay with the Dodgers
The Dodgers’ decision to retain Hernández reflects his impressive first season with the team, during which he hit 33 home runs and recorded 99 RBIs, marking career highs. Hernández also expressed his desire to remain with the franchise following their World Series triumph, making the extension a mutually beneficial outcome.
With Hernández returning, the Dodgers continue to build a formidable roster for the upcoming season. The team has already secured Tommy Edman on a five-year deal and welcomed new additions like Blake Snell, acquired from the San Francisco Giants, while maintaining stars like Shohei Ohtani.
The Dodgers are poised to defend their championship with a roster that blends proven talent and fresh reinforcements.
