The San Francisco 49ers have rehired Robert Saleh as their defensive coordinator after a 16-day search. Saleh, who previously held this position with the Niners from 2017 to 2020, rejoins the team after serving as head coach of the New York Jets and recently working as a consultant for the Green Bay Packers. The decision comes following the departure of Nick Sorensen, with head coach Kyle Shanahan seeking an experienced leader capable of adapting to challenges. The New York Jets have appointed Darren Mougey, former assistant general manager of the Denver Broncos, as their new general manager following the dismissal of Joe Douglas in November after a disappointing 3-8 start to the season.   Mougey, 39, spent the last three seasons as assistant GM for the Broncos and has built an extensive career with the organization, starting as a scouting intern in 2012. He also served as director of player personnel in 2021.   Now, Mougey joins forces with new head coach Aaron Glenn to rejuvenate the Jets and put an end to their playoff drought.
