Kyle Walker bids farewell to Manchester City after an illustrious eight-year stint and 319 matches, heading to AC Milan on loan with an option to buy. During his time with the “Sky Blues,” the English fullback amassed 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the historic treble.
Loan Deal with a Purchase Option
On Friday, Manchester City confirmed an agreement with AC Milan to loan Walker for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The deal includes an option for the “Rossoneri” to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
Although Walker is under contract with Manchester City until 2026, there is no obstacle preventing Milan from securing the 33-year-old defender on a long-term basis. Reports suggest a potential contract with the Italian club could extend until 2027.
A Manchester City Legend Departs
Walker leaves England for Italy after 319 appearances that saw him become a cornerstone of City’s defensive line and one of the team’s captains. Signed in 2017, he enjoyed a remarkable tenure filled with success and silverware.
In an emotional farewell message, Walker reflected on his journey with City, stating his pride in being part of the club’s history. He highlighted the 17 trophies won, including the Champions League and the famed treble, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the coaching staff, team personnel, teammates, and fans.
“This club and its supporters motivated me to always give my best,” Walker said in his parting words, marking the end of an era in Manchester and the beginning of a new chapter in Milan.
