Legends always have successors, and Gout Gout has just proved this to us. The Australian runner, barely 16 years old, is already projected as Usain Bolt’s heir, since in the 100 m event, in the U-18 of the Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Athletics Championships, he achieved a time of 10.04 seconds, only 0.06 thousandths of a second behind the Jamaican’s time of 9.58. Likewise, in this same tournament, but in the 200 m events, he achieved a historic time of 20.04, surpassing the best Australian mark of 20.06, which had been maintained since the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. Finally, with his 20 seconds and 4 thousandths, Gout achieved the best mark in history for a 16-year-old athlete in the 200 m event.
