A surprising move from the Dallas Cowboys, as the Lone Star team announced a salary cut for Dak Prescott, restructuring his contract similarly to CeeDee Lamb’s deal. This comes as the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming free agency period.
From $89M to $53M
This contract restructuring frees up $37 million from Prescott’s deal, reducing his salary cap hit from $89.89 million to $53.29 million. As a result, he has lost his title as the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL for 2025, with his salary now converted into bonuses.
Thanks to these adjustments in the contracts of both Lamb and Prescott, the Cowboys have cleared $56 million in cap space. However, team owner Jerry Jones stated, “I don’t see free agency as a place to fill gaps.”
