🌟🚀 Mexican talent continues to shine in NASCAR. Young driver Andrés Pérez de Lara has been announced as the newest signing for Spire Motorsports for the 2025 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season. The Mexican will drive the Chevrolet Silverado No. 77 full-time, aiming to compete for the Rookie of the Year honors.
🏁 THE RISE OF A STAR
Pérez de Lara enters the series with an impressive résumé. After claiming the 2024 ARCA Menards Series championship, the Mexican driver made his Truck Series debut last June at World Wide Technology Raceway. In that race, he qualified 16th and finished in an outstanding ninth place—a performance that showcased his talent and ability to compete at the highest level.
🛠️ A COMPETITIVE STRUCTURE
The No. 77 team will be led by veteran crew chief Chad Walter, who brings extensive experience to guide Pérez de Lara through his first full season in the series. Walter, who led Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 team in 2024, had a successful season with Rajah Caruth, securing one win, two poles, and five Top-5 finishes. Now, with Andrés behind the wheel, the goal is to match and surpass those achievements.
💬 “As Spire Motorsports continues to build for the future, identifying drivers with growth potential is crucial for both our organization and NASCAR as a whole,” said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire. “Andrés has incredible talent and is ready for this step. We are excited to welcome him to the Spire family.”
🏆 A CHAMPION ON THE RISE
At just 19 years old, Andrés Pérez de Lara has already made a name for himself in motorsports. In 2022, he won the NASCAR México Challenge Series, the Mexican equivalent of the NASCAR Xfinity Series. His ARCA Menards Series performance was spectacular, racking up 10 Top-5s and 17 Top-10s in 2024. Additionally, he became the first driver born in Mexico to win a national ARCA title in its 72-year history.
🚀 In just two ARCA seasons, he secured three poles, 20 Top-5s, and 33 Top-10s, with an average start of 6.4 and an average finish of 7.5, proving his consistency and speed.
🏎️ THE ROAD TO NASCAR
Born in Mexico City, Andrés began his racing career in karting at age 11, before moving on to Formula 4 and NASCAR México Trucks. His first NASCAR México Series victory came at Óvalo Aguascalientes, solidifying his reputation as one of Mexico’s brightest motorsports prospects.
🌟 TELCEL, Infinitum, and Claro will be among the key sponsors supporting the young Mexican in the No. 77 Silverado, while his primary sponsor for the rookie season will be announced soon.
💬 “This is a huge opportunity for me, and I’ve worked very hard to get here,” said Pérez de Lara. “Spire is an amazing team, and I feel lucky to have such an experienced group supporting me. I’m ready to compete at my best and improve every race. Daytona can’t come soon enough.”
💪 THE 2025 CHALLENGE
With a strong team, a talented driver, and major sponsor support, Andrés Pérez de Lara’s arrival in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series is set to be one of the most exciting storylines in 2025 motorsports. His performance will be key in proving that Mexican talent continues to make its mark in NASCAR.
