Amanda Anisimova Wins the Doha Open

American tennis player Amanda Anisimova has been crowned champion of the Doha Open, a WTA 1000 event, marking the biggest title of her career.

A Major Victory for Amanda in Qatar

With a 6-4, 6-3 victory, Anisimova defeated Jelena Ostapenko, who was the favorite heading into the final after eliminating Iga Swiatek, the world’s No. 2 player. Defying all odds, the 23-year-old American, ranked No. 41, became the lowest-ranked player to ever win the Doha Open since the tournament’s inauguration in 2001.

With this victory, Anisimova surpasses Petra Kvitova (2018) and Elise Mertens (2019), who previously held the record as the lowest-ranked champions at No. 21.

Following this triumph, Amanda Anisimova will reach her career-high ranking of No. 18 on Monday. Meanwhile, Ostapenko will continue her search for a WTA 1000 title, as she has now lost all three finals she has played in this category: Miami 2018, Doha 2016, and Doha 2025.
