🏎️ Mexico celebrates a decade of action and cutting-edge technology with the arrival of Formula E, the most sustainable and electrifying motorsport championship in the world. From its first race in 2015 to today, the country has witnessed unforgettable feats, technological advancements, and a positive social impact that extends beyond the track.
THE CHAMPIONS WHO MADE THEIR MARK IN MEXICO
Over these 10 years, Mexican fans have thrilled to eight races in Mexico City and two in Puebla. 🏁 Seven drivers and six different teams have tasted glory on Mexican soil:
- In the 2015-16 season, German Jérôme d’Ambrosio (Dragon Racing) became the first champion in Mexico.
- Lucas di Grassi redeemed himself in 2016-17 with Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler after a previous disqualification.
- In 2017-18, Daniel Abt brought Audi Sport back to victory.
- The 2018-19 season was marked by drama as Lucas di Grassi snatched victory from Pascal Wehrlein (Mahindra Racing) just meters from the finish, claiming his second win in Mexico.
- In 2019-20, Mitch Evans gave Jaguar Racing its first victory.
- The Miguel E. Abed Circuit in Puebla hosted a doubleheader in 2020-21, where Di Grassi and Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) took the honors.
- Pascal Wehrlein achieved his long-awaited victory in 2021-22 with TAG Heuer Porsche.
- In 2022-23, Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) secured first place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
- In the most recent edition, Wehrlein triumphed again, cementing his position alongside Lucas di Grassi as the top winners in Mexico.
SOCIAL IMPACT: BEYOND THE TRACK
Formula E has not only filled fans’ hearts with adrenaline. 🌱 Through initiatives like FIA Girls on Track, 270 young women will participate in activities during the 2025 Mexico City E-Prix, fostering their interest in STEM careers and motorsport. Additionally, the Better Future Fund program will donate €25,000 to the El Caracol AC association to support vulnerable children and teenagers.
🏡 Thanks to Formula E, communities in three states have benefited from water harvesting and purification systems, as well as solar energy, significantly improving their quality of life.
