Tapatío took a significant step toward claiming the Apertura 2024 Liga de Expansión MX title by defeating Celaya 2-1 in the first leg of the Final. The match was played at the Miguel Alemán Valdés Stadium, and the opening goal came in the 51st minute when Teun Wilke capitalized on a rebound from goalkeeper Gabino Espinoza. The “rojiblancos” extended their lead in the 72nd minute with a well-taken penalty by Gael García. Celaya narrowed the gap in the 87th minute with a stunning long-range goal by Carlos Baltazar, keeping their comeback hopes alive for the return leg. The decisive match will take place next Saturday, November 23, at Estadio Akron.
