Tapatío crowned Liga de Expansión champions for the second time in its history

Tapatío became the Liga de Expansión MX champions for the second time in its history, defeating Celaya 5-3 on aggregate, securing their second title in Mexico’s second-tier football division. The match started off difficult for the hosts, as despite Celaya playing with one less man after Lucas Paul De los Santos was sent off, they took a 2-0 lead with goals from José Muñoz and Daniel Cervantes.  Tapatío responded in the second half, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3 with a goal from Benjamín Sánchez. Then, Teun Wilke capitalized on a defensive mistake by Celaya to make it 2-2 in the match and 4-3 on aggregate. With the lead, Tapatío sealed the championship five minutes before the final whistle when Saul Zamora scored the decisive 5-3 after a great team play. You may also be interested in: Incredible! México sigue sumando medallas en la Serie Mundial de Para Natación 2024

México logró 16 medallas en la penúltima jornada de la Serie Mundial de Para Natación 2024. En la penúltima jornada de la Serie Mundial de Para Natación México 2024, que tiene lugar en el Centro Acuático Metropolitano de Guadalajara, la preselección nacional consiguió un total de 16 medallas: seis de oro, siete de plata y tres de bronce. Jesús Alberto Gutiérrez Bermúdez, medallista de bronce en los Juegos Paralímpicos París 2024, logró su sexta medalla en la competencia internacional al obtener el primer lugar en los 400 metros estilo libre, clasificación multiclase, con un tiempo de 5:23.32 minutos. Le siguieron en el podio Ángel Fernando Gutiérrez León en segundo lugar y el colombiano Luis Camilo Marín Regino en tercero. Gutiérrez Bermúdez también subió al podio en el segundo puesto en los 100 metros dorso, clasificación multiclase, con un tiempo de 1:23.10 minutos, mientras que Alejandro de Jesús Alvarado Alvarado, otro mexicano, logró el tercer lugar. El argentino Joaquín Leiva se llevó el primer lugar en esta prueba. Otros logros destacados para México incluyeron a Citli Siloe Salinas Rojas, quien conquistó el oro en los 100 metros dorso con un tiempo de 1:14.48 minutos. Paola Lizette Ruvalcaba Núñez, también mexicana, se quedó con la plata, mientras que la colombiana Nicol Samantha González Arango se llevó el bronce. Mexico continues to add medals in the 2024 Para Swimming World Series

Mexico won 16 medals on the penultimate day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series.  On the penultimate day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico, held at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center in Guadalajara, the national pre-selection team achieved a total of 16 medals: six gold, seven silver, and three bronze.  Jesus Alberto Gutiérrez Bermúdez, bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, earned his sixth medal in the international competition by winning first place in the 400-meter freestyle, multi-class classification, with a time of 5:23.32 minutes. Ángel Fernando Gutiérrez León followed in second place, and Colombian Luis Camilo Marín Regino took third.  Gutiérrez Bermúdez also earned second place in the 100-meter backstroke, multi-class classification, with a time of 1:23.10 minutes, while another Mexican, Alejandro de Jesús Alvarado Alvarado, earned third place. Haidee Aceves Shines with Silver at the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico

Jalisco athlete Haidee Viviana Aceves Pérez earned a silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke women’s event, with a time of 1:09.81 minutes, reaffirming her place among the best in the world at the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico.  Haidee Viviana Aceves Pérez, a double silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, stood out on the second day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico by winning silver in the women’s 50-meter backstroke, multi-class classification S1-S5, with a time of 1:09.81 minutes.      The podium was completely Mexican, with Karina Amayrany Hernández Torres taking gold with a time of 48.48 seconds, and Leilani Itzel González Ibarra earning bronze with a time of 55.36 seconds.  “Winning this medal today made me relive the moment I experienced at the Paralympic Games in France, and it’s something very beautiful—again it was silver, and in this event,” said Haidee Aceves.      The Jalisco athlete also highlighted the importance of public support at such events: “It helps us a lot because having so many people here supporting us and cheering us on motivates us, as well as the generations that come after us to push them to want to fulfill their dreams. Citli Siloe Salinas Rojas took gold with a time of 2:24.42 minutes, followed by Karen Amelyn Morales Galván, who earned silver with a time of 2:36.28 minutes, and Rebeca Hernández Carmona, who completed the podium with bronze at 2:36.64 minutes.  Aceves Pérez emphasized the importance of hosting international adapted and Paralympic sports competitions, highlighting their positive impact on the country’s sports development.      “We are on a very good path with these competitions, and the publicity needed to organize more events like this where many countries come is essential. It also gives us the opportunity to improve our records and qualify for more competitions,” she said.  This event is part of the qualification process for the 2025 Para Swimming World Championship in Singapore.

Daniela Gaxiola and Yareli Acevedo to compete in the Track Cycling Champions League

The Mexican cyclists Daniela Gaxiola and Yareli Acevedo will begin competing today, November 23, at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome in France. Mexican cyclists Luz Daniela Gaxiola González and Yareli Acevedo Mendoza are set to compete in the fourth season of the 2024 Track Cycling Champions League. Gaxiola will race in sprint events, while Acevedo will participate in endurance disciplines.      This prestigious event, organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), features the world’s top cyclists and will take place from November 23 to December 7 across three venues: Paris, the Netherlands, and London, with athletes from 26 countries.  The first round kicks off today, November 23, at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome in France, a venue that hosted the Paris 2024 Olympics. Events will include individual sprint, keirin, scratch, and elimination races.  The second and third rounds will follow on November 29 and 30 in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, making its debut as a host city. The final rounds will take place in London on December 6 and 7.      Also of interest: Daniela Gaxiola won bronze at the Nations Cup Track Cycling Notably, Gaxiola, a Sinaloa native, will compete in the league for the third time, while Acevedo, from Mexico City, makes her debut in this event, which brings together continental champions worldwide.  Since its inception in 2021, this international tournament has become a cornerstone of the UCI calendar alongside the World Championships, Nations Cup, and the Olympic Games.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo secure third place in the LMP after defeating Charros de Jalisco

The defending champions of the Mexican Pacific League, Naranjeros de Hermosillo, secured third place in the standings after defeating Charros de Jalisco 4-0 and benefiting from the loss of Algodoneros de Guasave. Robert Stock earned the win with an outstanding performance of seven scoreless innings, while Luis Payán took the loss.  Hermosillo’s offense exploded in the fifth inning with a four-run rally, highlighted by a home run from Alfonso Rivas. With this victory, the Naranjeros added 8 points in the first half of the season and are now preparing to face Venados de Mazatlán. Chivas loses to Atlas and bids farewell to the playoffs

With a penalty in the 90+12 minute, Atlas defeated Chivas 2-1 in the “Clásico Tapatío,” keeping their playoff hopes alive. Chivas took the lead in the 57th minute with a penalty from Víctor Guzmán after a handball by Matheus Dória. Uros Djurdjevic equalized in the 85th minute with a deflected shot, while Aldo Rocha sealed the victory with the decisive penalty in stoppage time. Zeltzin Hernández pone la mira en los Juegos Olímpicos de Los Ángeles 2028

Zeltzin Hernández, destacada luchadora mexicana, reflexionó sobre su año de logros, incluida una medalla de plata en el Mundial Sub-23. Su objetivo es clasificar y subir al podio en los Juegos Olímpicos de Los Ángeles 2028.     A pocos días de concluir un año en el que se consolidó como una de las atletas mexicanas más destacadas, la luchadora Zeltzin Hernández Guerra realizó un balance de lo logrado y ya tiene en la mira el ciclo hacia los Juegos Olímpicos de Los Ángeles 2028. “Este año ha sido impresionante, lleno de muchas sorpresas y emociones. Lo empecé conformando la selección nacional, luego en los Clasificatorios a París 2024, donde no logré el pase; fue como una caída y me sentía mal, pero no había tiempo para eso”, dijo en entrevista con la Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (CONADE).     Aunque no logró asegurar su lugar en el magno evento de París, la hidalguense dio vuelta a la página y escribió su propia historia al conseguir la medalla de plata en el Mundial Sub-23, siendo esta la primera medalla para México en este certamen, a pesar de haber enfrentado algunos problemas físicos. “Yo llegué al Mundial con una lesión de 10 días previos, entonces era como un ataque psicológico muy duro porque estaba muy nerviosa de no poder dar mi 100%, pero luché duro y no regalé nada. Creo que me vi muy superior aun con la lesión, salí contenta pese a que no fue el resultado que esperaba en la final”, explicó.     También te puede interesar: Zeltzin Hernández se proclamó subcampeona en Mundial de Luchas Asociadas Sub-23 La también campeona panamericana aseguró que uno de sus grandes objetivos es participar en los Juegos Olímpicos y, sobre todo, subir al podio, lo cual sería un logro monumental, ya que hasta la fecha Jane Valencia es la única luchadora mexicana que ha logrado clasificar a los Juegos Olímpicos (Tokio 2020). “Voy a seguir preparándome, contemplando campamentos y torneos con nuevos aprendizajes y clínicas. Actualmente, soy la primera medallista mundial sub-23 para el país, entonces creo que estamos muy cerca de una clasificación olímpica y no solo eso, sino de subir a un podio en el magno evento”.     “Conmigo van a ver muchas competencias de preparación, tenemos que conformar la selección nacional, luego los Campeonatos Panamericano y Mundial, Juegos Centroamericanos y Panamericanos, Clasificatorios Olímpicos y, primeramente Dios, Los Ángeles 2028”, expresó. La atleta de 23 años, que actualmente ocupa el lugar 17 en el ranking mundial, aprovechó la oportunidad para invitar a la población nacional a adentrarse en el mundo del deporte, ya sea en el ámbito de alto rendimiento o como una actividad social. “Yo les diría que tomen el riesgo de practicar deporte, porque es lo mejor que pueden hacer y la mejor decisión que pueden tomar sin importar cuál sea la disciplina. Es un estilo de vida y te ayuda a forjar un carácter, te ayuda a sentirte mejor contigo mismo, física y psicológicamente, y te hace más disciplinado”, concluyó.

Mexico defeated Nicaragua in the Second Qualifying Window for the 2025 AmeriCup

The Mexican men’s basketball team won 86-77 against Nicaragua. With this victory, they are now second in Group C and will face Canada on November 24. The Mexican men’s basketball team began their participation in the Second Qualifying Window for the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 on Thursday with a victory over Nicaragua by 86-77 at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua.      Under the leadership of Omar Quintero, the Mexican team dominated all four quarters thanks to an impressive offense led by Gael Bonilla, who, at just 21 years old, contributed 20 points and five rebounds.  At halftime, Mexico had a comfortable 50-31 lead, following a strong second quarter where they neutralized the hosts. In the second half, Karim Rodríguez and Paul Stoll sealed the victory, each contributing 15 points.  Also of interest: ¡Histórico!
