Mario Nava and Elizabeth Quintero won the Pan American Aerobic Gymnastics Championship

The Mexican team excelled at the 2024 Pan American Aerobic Gymnastics Championship in Panama, winning two gold medals (mixed pair and individual), one silver medal, and achieving notable results in the trio events.  Mexico once again stood out at the Pan American Aerobic Gymnastics Championship Panama 2024, capturing another gold medal, this time in the mixed pair category thanks to the impressive performance of Mario Nava and Elizabeth Quintero.      In the final, they outscored five other pairs with a score of 18.300, improving upon their third-place finish in the qualifying round (17.650 points).  Nava and Quintero firmly established themselves as the top representatives of the discipline at a continental level, followed by Argentineans Kevin Riveros and Brenda Weber (18.200) and Uruguayans Diego Ramírez and Julieta Perazza (17.700), who completed the podium.  You might also like: Daniela Gaxiola and Yareli Acevedo to compete in the UCI Track Cycling Champions League In other events, Mexico placed among the top 10 in the trio competition. In the final, the team consisting of Iván Veloz, Mario Nava, and María Fernanda González finished in sixth place, while the trio made up of Neftalí Reyes, Saúl Vázquez, and José Madero secured the eighth position.  With these results, the Mexican delegation wrapped up the championship with two gold medals (one in the mixed pair and one individual by Iván Veloz), as well as a silver medal earned by Mario Nava in the individual category.  Fotos: CONADE

Mexico closed with 10 medals at the 2024 Pan American Deaf Games in Brazil

Mexico secured 4 gold medals, 3 silver, and 3 bronze at the 6th Pan American Deaf Games 2024, excelling in athletics, indoor volleyball, and taekwondo, and finished sixth in the overall medal table.  The national team returned to Mexico following their participation in the 6th Pan American Deaf Games 2024, held from November 10–17 in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The team collected a total of 10 medals: four gold, three silver, and three bronze.  In athletics, Lourdes Ponce Juárez won gold in the 5,000 meters, while Freya Danae Nieves Medina took the gold in the 400 meters.  In indoor volleyball, the men’s team claimed the championship by defeating Uruguay 3-0 in the final. Additionally, Brenda Sánchez Ramírez secured gold in taekwondo in the -49 kg category.  Freya Nieves also earned two silver medals in the 100- and 200-meter sprints. Tapatío crowned Liga de Expansión champions for the second time in its history

Tapatío became the Liga de Expansión MX champions for the second time in its history, defeating Celaya 5-3 on aggregate, securing their second title in Mexico’s second-tier football division. The match started off difficult for the hosts, as despite Celaya playing with one less man after Lucas Paul De los Santos was sent off, they took a 2-0 lead with goals from José Muñoz and Daniel Cervantes.  Tapatío responded in the second half, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3 with a goal from Benjamín Sánchez. Then, Teun Wilke capitalized on a defensive mistake by Celaya to make it 2-2 in the match and 4-3 on aggregate. With the lead, Tapatío sealed the championship five minutes before the final whistle when Saul Zamora scored the decisive 5-3 after a great team play. You may also be interested in: Incredible! Mexico continues to add medals in the 2024 Para Swimming World Series

Mexico won 16 medals on the penultimate day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series.  On the penultimate day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico, held at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center in Guadalajara, the national pre-selection team achieved a total of 16 medals: six gold, seven silver, and three bronze.  Jesus Alberto Gutiérrez Bermúdez, bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, earned his sixth medal in the international competition by winning first place in the 400-meter freestyle, multi-class classification, with a time of 5:23.32 minutes. Ángel Fernando Gutiérrez León followed in second place, and Colombian Luis Camilo Marín Regino took third.  Gutiérrez Bermúdez also earned second place in the 100-meter backstroke, multi-class classification, with a time of 1:23.10 minutes, while another Mexican, Alejandro de Jesús Alvarado Alvarado, earned third place. Argentine Joaquín Leiva took the top spot in this event.  Other notable results for Mexico included Citli Siloe Salinas Rojas, who claimed gold in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:14.48 minutes. Mexican Paola Lizette Ruvalcaba Núñez took silver, while Colombian Nicol Samantha González Arango took bronze.  You may also be interested in: Haidee Aceves shines with silver at the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico. Additionally, Paola Ruvalcaba earned bronze in the 400-meter freestyle, multi-class classification, with a time of 5:45.16 minutes. Haidee Aceves Shines with Silver at the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico

Jalisco athlete Haidee Viviana Aceves Pérez earned a silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke women’s event, with a time of 1:09.81 minutes, reaffirming her place among the best in the world at the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico.  Haidee Viviana Aceves Pérez, a double silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, stood out on the second day of the 2024 Para Swimming World Series in Mexico by winning silver in the women’s 50-meter backstroke, multi-class classification S1-S5, with a time of 1:09.81 minutes.      The podium was completely Mexican, with Karina Amayrany Hernández Torres taking gold with a time of 48.48 seconds, and Leilani Itzel González Ibarra earning bronze with a time of 55.36 seconds.  “Winning this medal today made me relive the moment I experienced at the Paralympic Games in France, and it’s something very beautiful—again it was silver, and in this event,” said Haidee Aceves.      The Jalisco athlete also highlighted the importance of public support at such events: “It helps us a lot because having so many people here supporting us and cheering us on motivates us, as well as the generations that come after us to push them to want to fulfill their dreams. Citli Siloe Salinas Rojas took gold with a time of 2:24.42 minutes, followed by Karen Amelyn Morales Galván, who earned silver with a time of 2:36.28 minutes, and Rebeca Hernández Carmona, who completed the podium with bronze at 2:36.64 minutes.  Aceves Pérez emphasized the importance of hosting international adapted and Paralympic sports competitions, highlighting their positive impact on the country’s sports development.      “We are on a very good path with these competitions, and the publicity needed to organize more events like this where many countries come is essential. It also gives us the opportunity to improve our records and qualify for more competitions,” she said.  This event is part of the qualification process for the 2025 Para Swimming World Championship in Singapore.

Tapatío vence a Celaya

Tapatío Defeats Celaya in the First Leg of the Liga de Expansión MX Final

Tapatío took a significant step toward claiming the Apertura 2024 Liga de Expansión MX title by defeating Celaya 2-1 in the first leg of the Final. The match was played at the Miguel Alemán Valdés Stadium, and the opening goal came in the 51st minute when Teun Wilke capitalized on a rebound from goalkeeper Gabino Espinoza. The “rojiblancos” extended their lead in the 72nd minute with a well-taken penalty by Gael García. Celaya narrowed the gap in the 87th minute with a stunning long-range goal by Carlos Baltazar, keeping their comeback hopes alive for the return leg. The decisive match will take place next Saturday, November 23, at Estadio Akron.
